The evenings proceedings commenced with all guests joining in singing the Club song
Followed by a humorous skit presented by our Club Ladies titled: THE BAG LADY
A well-groomed lady is about to arrive in Kings Park to meet a very, very handsome man on a blind date. They will know each other by wearing the same flower on their outfits. They have no idea what each other looks like as the blind date has been arranged by a mutual friend.
BAG LADY: A lady down on her luck, looking very much like a tramp with big holes in her stockings, old shoes, dirty old dress, old hat and carrying a shopping bag arrives in the park. Goes over and starts fossicking in a nearby rubbish bin, takes out a few things and puts them in her bag. Decides to take a rest and sits on a park bench. Removes a bottle of beer from her shopping bag and begins to swig on it.
WELL GROOMED LADY: Walks in, stops, checks her watch, looks around for her blind date, then sits on the park bench near the Bag Lady. Looks at the bag lady, sniffs with her nose in the air, bends over and straightens her stockings.
BAG LADY: Not to be outdone by this stuffy woman, takes another swig from her beer, puts it back in her bag, looks at the well-groomed woman and proceeds to straighten her holey stockings.
