The Melville Bowling Club was invited to participate in the Wallaroo,June long weekend Bowling carnival, being played on Friday 10th, 11th and 12thJune2022, Invitation arranged by Colin Cook, brother of our Director of Ladies Bowls, Bev Schupelius.
Six MBC member couples, plus one single, made up two teams representing the Melville Bowling Club.
The event was played at the Wallaroo Community Sports Club, shared by the local Bowls, Golf and Croquet Clubs, built and funded by the local council 11 years ago at a cost of about $6,000,000. No doubt todays cost about 2 to 3 times.
It was interesting to learn that the Club runs entirely on volunteers, no employee salaries or wages being paid.
Following the Friday PM warm-up triples event, the MBC contingent enjoyed a great seafood dinner at a local harbourside restaurant.
The next two days of serious competition was most enjoyable, played in an entirely enclosed, international standard facility, being under one roof of the complex.
Both lunches of locally caught seafood were out of this world, fresh Garfish and salad for Saturday Lunch and local Spencer Gulf Prawns with salad on Sunday.
On the Monday, two carloads of our MBC visitors engaged in a most enjoyable tour of the Clare Valley, visiting three wineries, including lunch, guided by Colin and Lyn Cook.
Individual private arrangements followed the conclusion of the event.
The following selection of photos will give a brief overview of the event…..enjoy.
