Friday 18th November we experienced thunder, lightning, very heavy rain, but this did not deter the ladies from 17 other Clubs joining Melville for their Gala Day. By shortening the morning play, the Ladies came in for another hot cup of tea/coffee and a quiz that had been organised as Plan B whilst our Ladies prepared a lovely lunch.13 ends were played in the afternoon, followed by afternoon tea and presenting the lucky winners, prizes with the beautiful raffles that were on sale.
Our President Jack Bolton presented the winning teams with their prizes. Congratulations to Perth & Tatts team who won overall and Manning Runner up. Our Mystery Prize donated by Lisa O’Malley MLA being a lunch/dinner for 4 at Parliament House was won by Viv Park.
Gala Day’s are not successful without our Sponsors and a big thank you to Regis Aged Care; Oakwood funerals; DeRosa Auto Repairs; The Back & Neck Bed Shop; Aero Bowls World; Bunnings Melville; Myree Newsagency; Coles Melville; Lisa O’Malley MLA; Kim Giddons MLA; and donations received from local business we have secured over many years in the area.
A big thank you to our Ladies who worked hard in the kitchen, on the stalls, flowers, raffles, baking cakes, making pickles and jams, and of course our umpires, green keepers, administration and bar.
All expectations were exceeded, the overall day was a great success.
